In recent years, HIV response programs have devised novel approaches and objectives, considering past achievements and challenges spanning 15 years. The 2021-2026 Global AIDS Strategy aims to eliminate disparities hindering the efficient response to AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, with a particular emphasis on prioritizing individuals lacking access to HIV treatment services. The strategy establishes evidence-based priority actions and ambitious goals to effectively eradicate AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 across all countries and communities.

As stated in paragraph 10 of the HIV Action Plan, countries pledge to establish or enhance a framework of shared responsibility among stakeholders, including civil society and government institutions and additionally, they commit to ensuring consistent reporting on progress and outcomes at the community, national, and international levels.

The United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS has developed the Global Assessment of HIV Prevention, which evaluates various indicators, including the coverage and effectiveness of critical components within the global AIDS surveillance system. This assessment serves as a valuable tool to continuously monitor progress at all levels and encourages countries to implement national measures for monitoring key sector indicators.

The actions required to achieve the above goal are as follows:

- Monitor results and indicators in various areas, including epidemiological, programmatic, financial, and human rights.

-Present the results of selected indicators in a user-friendly and accessible format on an open-source platform, along with a comparative analysis of the actual outcomes of defined tasks.

-Facilitate open, transparent, and collective agreement on indicators at the national level.

-Educate all stakeholders involved in HIV response programs, including civil society, utilizing this platform.

-Establish an institutional-level rapid response mechanism based on the information received through this tool.

Additional benefits of HIVmoniTOOL

HIVmoniTOOL is a live, constantly updated tool that facilitates internal program monitoring and understanding of factors affecting target achievement. It discusses measures to improve situations with indicators falling below expected levels, enabling efficient analysis and urgent solutions. In the long run, the platform helps analyze and interpret facts promptly, avoiding time wastage.

Where does HIVmoniTOOL data come from?

Data sources are national HIV/AIDS response programs, government and non-governmental organization program data.

How often will metrics be updated?

The platform will update some data quarterly, some semi-annually, and some annually, ensuring regular updates for the selected indicators on a periodic basis.

Who is responsible for the platform?
The NGO "Real World, Real People" is responsible for designing, developing, and testing the platform. However, the platform's management and responsibility for its ongoing use lie with the NGOs and communities working in the HIV and related fields, who will take charge of it after its development.
